Find out Whon won K-pop Star contest

Teenage Girl Becomes Youngest Winner of 'K-Pop Star'

Park Ji-min Park Ji-min
Park Ji-min, a 15-year-old middle school student, won SBS' "K-Pop Star" audition on Sunday to emerge as the youngest winner -- and first female victor -- of any of the nation's recent TV audition shows. Park beat fellow teenager Lee Ha-yi in the final episode that was broadcast live after capturing the attention of world news media and Hollywood celebrities.

She captivated judges immediately with her stage manner and excellent singing skills. When she performed "Rolling in The Deep" by British singer Adele in a preliminary event, two of the three judges -- BoA and Park Jin-young -- hurrahed, an event that even featured of CNN's coverage. Actor Ashton Kutcher also posted the footage on his Twitter account, and the CBS talk show "The Talk" asked Park to appear on the show. When she was picked as the winner, she said she felt like all her hard work had paid off.

Born in Daejeon, Park emigrated to Thailand with her family at the age of five. She seems to have inherited her talent from her parents, who were singers either in popular or Christian music genres.

"We heard that Park's parents like music, so they wanted their daughter to become a good singer as she grew up. They devoted themselves to her education. And Park learned swimming, ballet and golf from her childhood. The family came back to Korea so she could get a good education in music," SBS said.

Park received prize money of W300 million and a luxury car (US$1=W1,135). She will also get the opportunity to release an album through one of the nation's three major management agencies -- SM, YG or JYP.

Incheon's Chinatown

We all know that Incheon is the port city of  South Korea right? Then , have you heard about "China-town" of Incheon?

Gaehangnuri-gil, one of the main tourist attractions in the port city of Incheon, is a thoroughfare lined with buildings built by Chinese, Japanese and Americans who came to the city to trade a century ago.

Including me and my two friend walked around the street in the city's Chinatown,

Inside the Chinatown selling all kind of stuff from China

A tour of a Chinese restaurant which opened in 1905 and was the birthplace of the popular black-sauce noodles known as jajangmyeon. I came to know that the famous jajangmyeon is a unique Korean food created by Chinese people in Korea. It seems that , "there's a dish in China and Taiwan that is similar to jajangmyeon, but it looks and tastes a bit different" as the real taste lies in the heart of this small and beautiful town.

In another part of Incheon's Chinatown, a mural depicts some of the key scenes from the 14th century historical novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms." The images begin with the first meeting of the three main characters, who swear allegiance to one another and become blood brothers.

The mural leads to Freedom Park, which offers views of Incheon Port. Walking down a nearby set of stairs leads to what used to be a foreign concession lined with Japanese-owned buildings on one side and Chinese ones on the other.

One building that was a Japanese bank during Japan's forced occupation of Korea from 1910 to 1945 is now used as an architectural exhibition center that shows how the city looked 100 years earlier when it saw an influx of Western civilization.

"Hallyu sparks  started 10 years ago. Not only  Korean TV dramas, but music and food are also popular,". "If you turn on the TV, there are at least three to four channels broadcasting Korean TV dramas, and their ratings are often higher than local programs."

"That's why Korean cuisine such as tteokbokki [the country's favorite snack, made of rice cake and spicy chili paste] and kimchi are so popular ," Incheon's Chinatown and other cultural assets would have great appeal to many tourists.

The port city of Incheon was just a small fishing village until the middle of the 19th century. It has since grown into one of the world's major ports and will host the Asian Games in 2014. The next edition of the region's biggest sporting event will run from Sept. 19 to Oct. 4 of that year featuring 13,000 athletes from 45 countries competing in 36 different sporting events.

If you happen to plan going around Seoul or near by Seoul please do take a glimpse of this wonderful town. You all will find a unique taste within it. As I enjoyed till 10 p.m walk around the town and came back taking the last subway to my place Hoegi which goes straight from Incheon subway station . We had really wonderful time there and still I am cherishing.
